Westpac’s office was outdated, providing a corporate and harsh environment that didn’t encourage collaboration. They wanted to reconfigure the space to make it work better for their teams.
With only a couple of years left on their lease, they wanted to use this project as a test fit for what would and wouldn’t work for their future office space.
Westpac occupied two floors within the building, and their reception was located on the first floor rather than the ground. To make the space flow better, we helped Westpac switch the floors around to make the ground floor the striking client-facing area, and the first floor the working area.
On the ground floor we created a new reception space to provide a better arrival experience, which included installing a new teapoint, making modifications to the lighting, and creating new meeting rooms.
On the first floor we reconfigured the layout to make a more collaborative environment for employees to work and meet within. Featuring an open bar area with joinery booths as the hub of the floor, along with a new teapoint and meeting rooms, the floor now offers Westpac’s teams different environments for any activity.
Being an Australian bank, their London office was often open and in use 24 hours a day, with circa 120 people using the space. They needed the office to be fully functioning throughout the works, and so we created temporary areas for their teams to use while we completed the works around them.
The impact
The adaptations to Westpac’s existing office has allowed them to evolve their space with their business needs, and better serve their teams. Our experience of working within live working environments allowed us to manage a logistically challenging delivery with no disruption to their day-to-day over a six-week period on-site.
