HOP Works was challenged to turn the lower ground floor of 3 St Helen’s Place into a custom workplace for Labb and Netbuilder, bringing both companies together.
They needed a neutral, high-quality design not dictated by either brand, while also addressing the distinct needs of two different teams and working styles. Both businesses needed a more focused and quiet area, and a more dynamic and sales-driven area.
The project also needed to tackle the constraints of a lower ground floor with limited natural light and ensure high-quality acoustic solutions for meeting rooms and presentations.
We developed a design that places people and their working dynamics at its core. The layout was carefully planned to accommodate both focused and high-energy teams while ensuring a seamless, collaborative environment.
We introduced a central collaborative spine to house the teapoint, breakout area, and event space for internal and external workshops. Its strategic placement creates an impactful first impression when arriving onto the floor – visitors are greeted by a high-end perch table and integrated AV setup instead of desks, setting the tone for a premium workspace experience.
Intelligent lighting solutions have been introduced with softer, ambient lighting in the central area to counteract the lack of natural daylight.
Faux planting and warm, earthy tones including rich timber finishes and deep forest greens have been incorporated to soften the industrial feel of the exposed services, creating a welcoming, lounge-like atmosphere. Furniture, supplied by OW-N, complements the design, ensuring comfort and style in every aspect of the space.
The entire space has been designed to be versatile, providing equal access to collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, and breakout areas for both teams. Fully integrated AV solutions support internal and external presentations, international sales pitches, and seamless collaboration.
The impact
The result is a tailored workplace that successfully brings two companies together without compromising their distinct working styles. The intelligent spatial planning, acoustic solutions, and high-end finishes create a space that fosters both focus and collaboration. Despite the challenges of a lower ground floor, the considered use of lighting, textures, and design elements has resulted in a workspace that feels open, inviting, and functional. The feedback from the teams has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the success of a people-first approach in modern office design.
